First illustrated edition, first impression. Sized 24 x 16cm, pp.550, plus folding map. With full colour plates by John Lawrence, and numerous marginal sketches in black and white. Publisher's brown quarter cloth, with black and gilt titles to spine, cream paper over boards, and orange endpapers. With the illustrated jacket priced at £8.75, and the matching publisher's slipcase.
Condition: Foxing to edges, a bit of marking and shallow bumping to extremities of an otherwise good book. In like dust wrapper that is slightly sunned to spine and rubbed to head of spine, showing a few spots of foxing on the inside, a little edge-wear and some archival tape repairs on the inside. Contained in a very good slipcase that is lightly discoloured to top edge. A nice copy overall.

Condition: Shallow bumping to one corner and spine tips and foxing to edges of an otherwise very good book. In like dust wrapper with just a hint of wear to extremities. A near-fine copy that is signed by the author to title page.

A wonderful opportunity to acquire the first illustrated editions of both the original story and its sequel that permits readers to return to the warren, reacquainting us with the characters we know and love.
