Sell Books to Us
Whether you are decluttering or simply sorting through old books, and feel overwhelmed at the prospect of researching the market and selling them yourself, we may be able to assist.
We buy rare and first editions, most fine press titles and inscribed examples
We are always interested in acquiring rare books, first editions and special titles of comparable quality to the ones in our existing catalogue. You can scroll down to the bottom of this page for a list of authors, works and publishers we are always on the lookout for.
We try to offer competitive prices and pay promptly. We can buy single titles if they are of a higher value and scarcity, but do prefer, in most cases, to buy larger collections; in the latter case, we are often happy to travel to evaluate in person and arrange for shipping or collection.
First Edition Books, Signed and Inscribed Titles
We buy and sell desired First Edition books, early prints of coveted children's and illustrated classics. You can reach out with modern and contemporary fiction rare first editions in good, complete condition, as well as pre-1900 firsts and early impressions, and titltes signed by authors, introducers and illustrators.
Folio Society Books and Other Fine Press and Small, Independent Publishers
We buy and sell Folio Society Books, Limited Editions, Signed Copies, Folio Press Fine Editions. We are interested in most Folio books that are either old from the days of yore of Folio Society and limited, or from the last couple of decades, as well as titles from other fine publishers, such as Lyra's Books, Hand & Eye Press, etc.
How to sell books to Sancho's
Write to us at hello@sanchosrarebooks.co.uk. When getting in touch for the first time, please let us know which books you are looking to sell and, most importantly, include a clear photograph of these. Please arrange the books on a shelf or flat surface and take photos of the spines, with the titles clearly readable. If the collection is large, please photograph the books in groups of around 8 to 12, ensuring all titles can be clearly seen. Alongside the images, please provide a brief description of the overall condition of the collection, for instance if there is any foxing, noticeable flaws or defects, bumps or dents, previous owner’s inscriptions, and, where applicable, the condition of dust wrappers and slipcases.
If the books appear to be of interest, we will reply and request further details that are more specific. Additional details and pictures we may request if the books are of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Author, as it appears on the title-page, not the spine.
- Title, as it appears on the title page, not the spine.
- Edition – the edition number if given, usually on the copyright page or, in some cases, on the title page.
- Publisher, Year and Place of Publication, usually found on the title page, but sometimes on the copyright page.
- Binding Type, i.e. leather, cloth, paper, etc.
- Other Attributes, e.g. dust wrapper, slipcase, clamshell case?
- Notable Defects – Please do not judge the book's flaws in relation to its age. Flaws are, unfortunately, flaws, so please do let us know if there is foxing, if there are any torn pages, losses or repairs to the dust jacket, bumped corners, stains, etc.
Please note that we receive a very high volume of emails and, on occasion, may be unable to respond to each one individually. If you have not heard from us within 5 working days, please take this as an indication that we are not looking to move things forward at this time.
