The Opener of the Way, by Robert Bloch. Sauk City: Arkham Press, 1945. First edition, first printing; in original, unclipped dust wrapper. 

Publisher's original black cloth boards, gold lettering to spine; with dust jacket. Good book with binding square and secure, pages largely clean with the exception of penned inscriptions to front paste-down and free endpaper. Externally bumped to extremities with covers slightly marked, foxing and tanning to edges with pages yellowed, a few ear marks throughout, and a couple of shallow spine breaks throughout. In a dust jacket that is worn and tanned, particularly to spine, with rubbing to joints and nibbling to spine tips.

Bloch's collection of fantasy and horror short stories and his first book. Published by Arkham House in an edition of 2,065 copies, most of the stories had appeared in the magazine Weird Tales in the 1930s and 1940s, and some of the stories are part of the Cthulhu Mythos.
