LEWIS, C. S.  The Chronicles of Narnia.  Complete first edition, later printings set of the author's best-selling work and one of the most beloved series of all time.

Octavo, seven volumes, original publisher's boards, each volume illustrated with plates, in-text illustrations and line drawings, and maps by Pauline Baynes, including colour where called for; in original dust jackets, all now placed in archival sleeves (any glare in photos is due to these).

Comprising first editions, later impressions of:

  1. The Magician's Nephew. London: The Bodley Head, 1963. First edition, fourth printing. Publisher's green boards, silver lettering to spine; in the price-clipped dust wrapper. Bumping to corners and spine tips, spine lightly cocked, foxing to the closed text block and prelims with hardly any throughout, and a  small inscription to FFEP, a shallow spine break between pages 12 and 13. In the price-clipped dust jacket that is lightly-worn, with some tape reside on the inside, a yellow residue strip to spine and a small part of panels, darkening to joints and spine, a few small closed tears and nibbling to extremities.
  2. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. London: Geoffrey Bles, 1964. First edition, seventh printing. Publisher's light blue boards, silver lettering to spine; in unclipped dust jacket. Light crushing to spine tips and shallow bumping to rear corner, some external discolouration in places, spine ever-so-slightly cocked, some foxing to edges and a little throughout (primarily contained to extremities); else clean and uninscribed, with pages tightly bound. With the jacket that has a few foxing spots to flaps, spine and panels, and is ever-so-slightly nibbled to extremities, has a few small closed tears, and has an inch-sized portion of loss to front panel.
  3. The Horse and his Boy. London: Geoffrey Bles, 1968. First edition, seventh impression. Publisher's gray boards, silver lettering to spine, map endpapers at front; with price-clipped dust jacket. Light bumping to spine tips and corners, slight discolouration to extremities, foxing to edges and prelims, 'happy birthday' inscription penned to rear of FFEP; else a clean and tightly-bound copy. In a good price-clipped jacket, with discolouration to spine, foxing to both front and rear, and minimal nibbling to spine tips.
  4. Prince Caspian: The Return to Narnia. London: Geoffrey Bles, 1960. First edition, third impression. Publisher's navy blue boards, silver lettering to spine, map endpapers at front; in unclipped dust jacket. Mild crushing and discolouration to spine tips, heavy cocking to spine, foxing to top edge, offsetting to prelims, small penned name to half-title; else a clean, but well-read copy. In the worn jacket with a little foxing and marking to lightly yellowed panels, tanning to spine, nibbling to extremities with a little loss to spine tips, and a few closed tears.
  5. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. London: Geoffrey Bles, 1969. First edition, seventh impression. Publisher's light blue boards, silver lettering to spine, map endpapers at front; in price-clipped dust jacket. An ex-library copy with the usual marks and attachments. Externally, there is bumping to corners, a moderate spine lean, a little discolouration to extremities, tanning to edges and a small stamp to bottom edge. Internally, there are stamps to the copyright page, page 111 and final page of the text, with a further cardboard pocket stuck to the front pastedown, as well as stamps and label residue to the FFEP. Outer edges of both front and rear paste-downs show tape marks. Light staining to a few pages here and there, but the pages are generally unmarked and the text is fully legible. The jacket is lightly nibbled to extremities with very little loss, and there is residue from a publisher's price label to front flap and very mild discolouration to spine.
  6. The Silver Chair. London: Geoffrey Bles, 1969. First edition, seventh printing. Publisher's navy blue boards, silver lettering to spine, map endpapers at front; in price-clipped dust jacket. Light staining to a few pages here and there, but the pages are generally unmarked, clean and the text is fully legible.
