BARRIE, J.M. Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Would Not Grow Up. London: The Folio Society, 1992. First printing thus. Standard, non-limited edition. Signed by the illustrator directly to half-title page.

Introduction by Andrew Birkin, illustrations by Paula Rego. Typographical design by Malcolm Harvey Young. 279 × 183 × 19 mm. Pp. [i–viii] ix–xxx, 1–106: [11] leaves of colour plates. Type: Galliard. Typeset by Wyvern Typesetting, printed and bound by the Bath Press. Full blue buckram with a design in silver by Rego; cream endleaves. Blue slip case. Four of the plates are printed both recto and verso. This is the dramatic version of Peter Pan, which was written and first performed in 1904, and first published in 1928. The book was published in conjunction with the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children, to which Barrie bequeathed his copyright. 125 numbered copies bound in quarter blue morocco with Ann Muir marbled paper sides, signed by Rego, were also issued in the same year; this is, however, the standard edition.

Very good copy, binding with a slight lean but firm, inscribed to front free endpaper in pen: "To my dearest Aunt Peg / A little something to add to your library. Hope you enjoy it. / All my love. / Paros". In a somewhat soiled and worn slipcase.

Signed by the illustrator Paula Rego in pen to the half-title page, just underneath the title. Accompanying the books is a set of five photographs, neatly tucked in, perhaps sent by Rego to the original owner together with the signed copy. Despite research, we are unfortunately unable to confirm whether it is the author featured in the (somewhat concealing) pictures. There are some features that look like a young Paula Rego, but we cannot be 100% certain.
