Published by the Folio Society 2003. Second printing. A separate impression of a volume from the Great Philosophers of the Ancient World set previously issued in the same year. Translation by Sir Ronald Melville, introduction and notes by Don and Peta Fowler, preface by A.C. Grayling, frontispiece [wood-] engraving by Simon Brett. Pp. [i–vi] vii–xli [xlii], [1–2] 3–342. Type: Poliphilus and Blado. Printed and bound by the Bath Press. Quarter dark brown leather, cream paper boards with an enlargement of a detail of the frontispiece in dark brown; dark brown endleaves. Dark brown slip case. Simon Brett’s frontispieces are based on classical statues, and emphasise the gravity of the selected texts.

Condition

Light wear to the leather binding, a slight crease to spine and a couple of small earmarks; else a fine book with pages tightly bound and free of inscriptions. In a very good slipcase with some shelf-wear.

We do our best to describe items as accurately as possible. All our books can be returned within 30 days of receipt, whether they have been found to be not-as-described or you have simply changed your mind about the purchase. Returns are only free when items have been found to be not as described.

We are happy to ship worldwide. However, if your shipping destination is outside the UK, you will need to purchase from us via eBay, our marketplace site.
