Edition de luxe, no 408 of 550 sets signed by Ingleton. A comprehensive and authoritative work on Flinders' life and explorations written and edited by the distinguished Australian sailor, hydrographer and maritime historian Lieutenant-Commander Geoffrey Chapman Ingleton, RAN (1908-1998). The present work, Ingleton's magnum opus, was immediately recognised on publication as a major contribution to both Flinders studies and the early history of Australia, and remains a key work in these fields.
Light rubbing in places, loss of gilt to spines and a bumped corner on one volume, otherwise a clean, near-fine set. Housed in a lightly bumped slipcase with some faded stains and foxing to the label on the upper panel.
