GAIMAN, Neil. American Gods. Suntup Editions, 2024. Limited, Numbered, Signed (by author and artist) Edition.
6¾” x 9⅝” trim size. 842 Pages. Limited to 350 copies, out of which this is #165. Published as two volumes. Signed by Neil Gaiman and Yoann Lossel. Introduction to the text and afterword by Neil Gaiman, reprinted from an earlier edition. Two American Gods sequel novellas: Black Dog and The Monarch of the Glen. Bradel binding in full goatskin. Goatskin is from Alran Tannery in France. Embossed World Tree designed by Yoann Lossel. Inset coin custom minted for this edition by Shire Post Mint, also from a design by Yoann Lossel. Volume 1 features a Sun coin in brass and Volume 2 features a Moon coin in nickel silver. Front and back sections of each volume are black Hahnemühle Bugra with the frontispiece illustration tipped-on in volume 1 within an ornate frame foiled in three shades of gold. Ten illustrations (nine full color and one monochrome) by award-winning artist Yoann Lossel, all of which feature gold foil accents with offset print production supervised by the artist using his preferred printer. Foldout of Classic edition dust jacket art. Endsheets are Hahnemühle Bugra. Head and tail bands are handmade with goatskin. Printed letterpress on 118 gsm Mohawk Superfine paper by Pat Randle and Ellen Bills at Nomad Letterpress on a Heidelberg Cylinder in Gloucestershire, United Kingdom. Text pages are set in Requiem. Housed in a clamshell enclosure covered in black Dubletta cloth with a leather spine label and velour lined trays.
A very good set, the volumes showing the mildest wear to the extremities, with the tissue guard protecting the frontispiece in volume 1 detached; else a fine set. In a clamshell case that is a little shelf-worn, with a small mark to one panel and a shallow bump to one corner. All minuscule flaws, but mentioned for accuracy. Please note there is no bookmark accompanying this edition.
