A Christmas Carol in Prose Being a Ghost Story of Christmas by Charles Dickens.

London: The Folio Press, [1970]. A facsimile of the manuscript in the Pierpont Morgan Library, with the illustrations of John Leech and the text from the first edition. Introduction by Monica Dickens, the great-granddaughter of Charles Dickens. Designed by Norma Levarie. Wood-engraved vignettes by W.J. Linton. 276 × 221 × 18 mm. Pp. [i–iv] v–xi [xii], [1–4] 5–142 [143–148]. Type: Bodoni Book. Printed by the Meriden Gravure Company. Bound by Mackay in full green buckram; yellow endleaves. Green and black slip case.

The facsimiles of the manuscript are generally printed on the rectos, with the printed text on the facing versos. There are also facsimiles of pages from the first edition of 1843, showing Linton’s wood-engraved vignettes, on pages [28], [68], [106] and [143], and colour facsimiles of Leech’s plates printed in the size of the originals and tipped to pages [xii], [29], [69] and [107]. Sets of sheets of this edition were purchased from the New York publisher James H. Heineman, with the first gathering reprinted to include the imprint of The Folio Press.

This is a very good book with only light sunning to spine, with pages tightly bound and free of any inscriptions. In a very good slipcase with some shelf-wear.
