4.50 From Paddington by Agatha Christie.

London: The Crime Club by Collins, 1957. First edition, second impression, a month after original publication of the same year. Sized 19 x 12.5cm. Pp. 256. With original, unclipped dust wrapper.

Publisher's original cloth binding with black lettering to spine. Bumping to two corners and crushing to spine tips, as well as slight darkening to extremities. Small staining to otherwise tanned edges. Binding has a lean, but pages are tightly bound. There is a little foxing throughout, primarily contained to prelims. In a good, unclipped dust wrapper with foxed, a little darkened and in-places stained panels. Spine is a bit discoloured, and there is a little chipping to extremities, with a very small portion of loss to head of spine. The dust wrapper has now been placed in a removable, protective sleeve of archival quality.

For an instant the two trains ran together, side by side. In that frozen moment, Elspeth witnessed a murder. Helplessly, she stared out of her carriage window as a man remorselessly tightened his grip around a woman’s throat. The body crumpled. Then the other train drew away. But who, apart from Miss Marple, would take her story seriously? After all, there were no suspects, no other witnesses… and no corpse.
