"A new collection of Mrs. Uttley's lively yet deeply thought essays [...]. She tells of her life as a writer (and reader too), a countrywoman, lover of the arts and of flowers and of old lore and legends. She gives a glimpse of her early memories of northern counties and of her present home in the south. Her interests are wide and she never fails to shed a fresh light on any subject to which her mind is turned."
