Illustrated by
Plum Pie by P. G. Wodehouse. London: Herbert Jenkins Ltd, [1966]. First edition, first impression. In original, unclipped dust wrapper. Ex-library example, with associated marks. Pp. 285.
A collection of nine short stories by P. G. Wodehouse, including many of his regular popular characters such as Jeeves, Blandings, Ukridge, Mr Mulliner, Freddie Threepwood, and others. In this book, Wodehouse takes 'the best of ingredients and has whipped them into a bubbling confection of gaiety and humour'.
Condition
Publisher's original cloth binding with silver lettering to spine. Externally in very good condition, however with light bumping to corners and spine tips, as well as a small mark towards the upper edge of the rear board. Edges clean, but showing very small signs of foxing and tanning, as well as an M.R. stamped inscription to upper edge. Spine is slightly cocked. Pages are still well bound, albeit not tightly. Internally, there is light foxing to prelims and lightly rubbed patch to front paste-down endpaper. Ex-library associated stamp and inscription to copyright page. Some pages are well-thumbed with sporadic, light marks, and some small earmarks. Text remains unaffected. There seems to be a blank page that was (not very cleanly) removed at the very back (just before the rear FEP), however the book and text itself are otherwise complete. Presenting well in a good, unclipped dust wrapper with bright panels. Small 'SS' faded mark towards the bottom of the spine and a torn 3cm chunk from the front flap (see photo). Very little bubbling to front joint, a small patch of plastic filmed removed from the front panel, and little chipping that took away some of the colour towards the extremities. The dust wrapper has now been placed in a removable, protective sleeve of archival quality.
