Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens by J. M. Barrie. London: Hodder and Stoughton, [Undated]. Likely ca. 1910s, based on price 7/6 to dust wrapper. With 16 full-page colour plates by Arthur Rackham, protected by individual tissue guards. Original publisher's binding in very good condition with only light toning and wear to extremities. Mild bumping to head and tail of spine. Corners straight. Foxing to edges and throughout on pages, including a patch of acidic transfer to FFEP and another to BFEP. No previous owner's inscriptions. Binding somewhat fragile, but no loose pages and only a couple of cracks to gutter. Content and illustrations clean with minimal foxing, and all original tissue guards are still present. Original dust wrapper is still present, but in only acceptable condition; grubby, somewhat marked, chipped and showing some small loss. The wrapper was heavily repaired and enforced with strong, acid-free non-yellowing, transparent document repair tape, and now placed in an archival sleeve that can be removed if desired. Overall, a lovely example, quite rarely found in its original dust jacket.
