Diary of a Provincial Lady, by E. M. Delafield. London: Macmillan and Co., Limited, [1930]. First edition, first impression. Illustrated by well-known illustrator and artist Arthur Watts with 22 full page illustrations.

Sized 13.2 x 19.5cm. Pp. vii, 301. Includes the original publisher's advertisements at rear (two pages). A very scarce example, most often found without its dust wrapper.

Condition

Publisher's original cloth binding with gilt lettering to spine. The cloth is a bit patchy and marked overall, as well as slightly worn towards the bottom of the front joint (ever-so-slightly exposing the netting). The upper corner is slightly bumped and the spine is discoloured. Edges are clean save for a touch of foxing. The book is well bound with strong hinges and joints. One ex-library bookplate to front paste-down endpaper; otherwise pages are pristine and free of foxing or spotting. Presenting excellently in a very good, unclipped dust wrapper (showing price 7/6 net to front flap) with clean panels and slightly darkened spine. A tiny bit of nibbling to extremities and a little bit of discolouration on the inside, but a very good example regardless, especially taking age in consideration. The dust wrapper has now been placed in a removable, protective sleeve of archival quality.
