The bindings are square and firm, with the second and third volumes so tightly bound as to suggest they are unread, and the covers remain clean. There is light bumping to the spine tips of all volumes, and to the lower corners of The Two Towers. The upper edge of the rear board of The Fellowship of the Ring shows some visible wear, but the covers are otherwise bright and unworn. The top stain remains a vibrant red, with only a few small chips to Fellowship and some minor grubby marks to The Return of the King. The edges are clean, entirely free from foxing, and the pages throughout are clean, unmarked, and uninscribed.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEach volume is accompanied by its matching unclipped dust wrapper, showing a modest degree of tanning to the spine, though all lettering remains clear and legible. There are a few small chips to the extremities, most notably at the upper left corner of the spine, but the wrappers are otherwise clean, with only a few faint grubby marks to the rear panels and no repairs.
