Housed in a full leather slipcase with scalloped edges and with title, author and decorative motifs (by calligrapher John Andrew) gold-blocked to right-hand panel. The illustrations consist of two full-page drawings (including the frontispiece) and 19 head-pieces. The endleaves reproduce Tolkien’s own drawing of ‘Thror’s Map’. An additional leaf pasted-in before the half-title bears a colophon reading in part ‘This edition . . . is limited to 1750 numbered copies . . .’ These specially-bound copies were issued in the spring of 2003.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA very good copy, with slightest handling wear to edges, a few hairline scratches to the top edge, and a few shallow silk pulls (as present in most copies).
