Peter Pan and Wendy by J. M. Barrie. London: Hodder and Stoughton, [Undated], circa 1921. First thus of this scarce edition illustrated by Mabel Lucie Attwell with 12 colour plates, out of which 2 are missing in this edition. Publisher's blue cloth binding with illustrations and gilt lettering to front cover and spine, plain endpapers. Sized 19.5 x 25cm. Pp. viii, 185. Good condition overall. The covers and spine are bumped and worn, the spine is slightly discoloured and there is a little soiling and a few water stains on the cloth. The joints are a little worn and the hinges are partly broken, with netting exposed. Text block is holding together with only one page truly loose (the page containing the colour plate after p.176), but there are several spine breaks throughout. The edges are tanned and there is very slight foxing and handling marking throughout. There is slight visible marking after a previous penciled drawing was erased on the FFEP, a penciled inscription to next endpaper dated 1921, sporadic earmarking and two pages with colour plates missing (p. 24, i.e. "I daresay it will hurt a little" and p. 33, i.e. "They are the children who fall out of their perambulators"). Scarce work at a significantly reduced price to reflect condition.
