Cider with Rosie, by Laurie Lee.

London: The Hogarth Press, 1959. First edition, first impression of the author's autobiographical novel recounting his blissful childhood in an isolated village; with unclipped dust wrapper. First issue with the mention of 'a fire at the piano-works almost every year' to page 272. Original green boards, gilt lettering and decoration to spine, plain endpapers; in unclipped dust wrapper showing price 18s. net to front flap. With frontispiece and line drawings in text, including some full-page drawings, by John Ward.

A clean and tight copy with binding square and pages uninscribed. Lightest bumping to spine and tanning to spine tips and upper front corner and a little foxing and tanning to edges and throughout, primarily to prelims, and thereafter mostly contained to extremities. In a very good dust wrapper with some nibbling and darkening to extremities, some closed tears to the joint between the front flap and panel, and a little faded staining to spine. A really lovely copy. Dust wrapper now placed in a removable, protective sleeve of archival quality.

[together with]

Loosely inserted card signed by author Laurie Lee. On the verso of the card is a handwritten description by the previous owner of Laurie Lee's biographical details. This card came as part of a large collection of letters, photographs and cards signed by prominent authors and playwriters, amassed in the 1970s and 1980s by collector Neil Walden.
