With 7 pages of advertisements to rear.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePublisher's original blue cloth, with an onlaid pictorial roundel and gilt border, gilt lettering to the front cover and spine, top edge gilt, and illustrated endpapers depicting Alice running after the hare. The binding has a pronounced lean, the covers are worn and a little bumped at the extremities, and the spine is sunned and a little spotted, with a strip of sunning to the upper portion of the rear board as well. The closed text block is foxed, with sporadic foxing throughout, though none affecting legibility. Both the front and rear hinges are broken, with the netting exposed, though the pages hold firm with none loose. There is a contemporary inscription to the front free endpaper, and another to the page before the half-title. The tissue guard protecting the frontispiece is slightly pierced and ear marked, with a few ear marks throughout. Collated as complete, with all plates present.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAccompanied by an Autograph Letter Signed 'Millicent Sowerby, dated 6 May 1903 with the address of 102 Sinclair Road, Kensington, to Edie Rose, unable to accept an invitation to lunch, but looking forward to tea instead, apologising for not sending the book, etc; 3 pp. 15.4 x 9.9 cm. Together with a letter dated 13 July 1902 from her correspondent Edie, praising the book illustrations, wondering whether the frontispiece is in the wrong place; 4 pp. 17.7 x 11.3 cm.
